php5-memcached software package provides memcached extension module for PHP5, uses libmemcached, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php5-memcached
php5-memcached is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php5-memcached package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php5-memcached *
You will get with php5-memcached package name, version, architecture and description in a table
